TOUR DESCRIPTION
Departure time is between 09:00 – 09:10 from your hotel. A short 15-minute drive takes us to the Ortahisar/Bozdağ area.
In this nature hike, we start ascending from Ortahisar to Bozdağ (1200 m altitude). From the summit, you will see breathtaking views from above, including the Red and Pink valleys, Çavuşin village, and the Zelve open-air museum. Afterward, we will descend into Devrent Valley (Valley of Imagination) and drive to the historical Saruhan Caravanserai. The hike ends with a guided tour of this magnificent monument.
THE SARUHAN CARAVANSERAI
Located in the vicinity of Avanos, this caravanserai is a masterpiece of Seljuk architecture built in 1249 during the reign of Sultan İzzettin Keykavus II.
- Silk Road Legacy: It was a vital stop on the historical silk trade routes.
- Architecture: Classically designed with light brown, yellow, and pink coloured cut stones.
- Scale: The building extends over approximately 2000 square meters on a single level.
- Design: It features a magnificent entrance door and five gates opening onto the courtyard, showcasing artistic stone decorations.
